Andres Lopez is CEO of Owens-Illinois, Inc. (NYSE: OI). He is based at the company’s world headquarters in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Lopez’s focus is to enhance the performance of the business to benefit customers, employees, investors and other key stakeholders. Lopez has established himself as a strong and successful leader, most recently serving as chief operating officer during 2015 and playing a key leading role on the recent acquisition of Vitro’s Food and Beverage business in Mexico, the U.S. and Bolivia. He has also served as president of O-I Americas. In that role, he focused on strengthening the performance of the North America region and implemented an integrated business planning approach that enhanced the connectivity between functions.

Prior to overseeing the Americas, Lopez was president of O-I’s Latin America operations for five years. His leadership in Latin America enabled O-I to maximize the value of operating in this developing region. Lopez established and successfully implemented a strategy that led to organic growth, as well as acquisitions in Brazil and Argentina. Lopez also launched effective initiatives to optimize the organizational model, talent and competencies to better fit emerging market opportunities as well as initiatives to significantly improve safety, manufacturing cost, energy consumption and product quality.

Prior to becoming president of Latin America in 2009, Lopez served as vice president of O-I’s global manufacturing and engineering business unit (GMEC) for three years. In that role, he led a global agenda and brought deeper collaboration, productivity and efficiency to O-I’s operations worldwide.

A native of Colombia, Lopez joined O-I in 1986 at one of its Colombian plants as an engineer. He held a number of manufacturing assignments there before moving to O-I Peru in 1993, where he served as operations manager. Three years later he moved to Brazil, first serving as plant manager for the Rio de Janeiro plant, and then for the São Paulo plant. In 1999 he was named general manager of O-I Peru, where he was responsible for the successful acquisition and integration of CMVP, one of O-I’s competitors in Peru. In 2004, he moved to the company’s headquarters in Ohio to serve as vice president of finance and administration for the North America region, becoming vice president of manufacturing for North America in 2005.

Lopez holds a Bachelor of Science in production engineering from EAFIT University in Medellin, Colombia, and has attended the Executive Education Program at Stanford University in California. Lopez serves on the Board of Directors for Avery Dennison. He speaks English and Portuguese, in addition to his native Spanish.
