Thomas E. Cecconi serves as President & Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Medical Center. Mr. Cecconi served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Medical Center from February 2002 to April 2003. Prior to serving at Mercy, Mr. Cecconi was President & Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital of Stark County from 1991 to 2002. He is a graduate of John Carroll University and received a Masters in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College.
A native of Canton, Mr. Cecconi started his career in healthcare administration at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1973. In 1980, he joined Hospital Management Professionals of Brentwood, TN. During that time, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Virginia Regional Medical Center in Virginia, MN; President of Paris Community Hospital in Paris, IL; President & CEO of Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton, NC; and as a Group Vice President for Hospital Management Professionals.
Mr. Cecconi is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and received the CEO Award of Excellence from the College of Osteopathic Healthcare Professionals in 1996. He is a past chairman of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees and past Chairman of the Akron Regional Hospitals Association. He is also a member of the Stark County Development Board, a member of the Walsh University Board of Trustees and past member of the Massillon Chamber Board of Trustees.
