Phillip R. Cox is a native of Cincinnati. He holds a Doctorate of Letters Degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph and Cincinnati Technical College. He is Chairman of the Board of Cincinnati Bell and for over thirty-nine years has been the President and CEO of Cox Financial Corporation. During that span, he has received virtually every industry award. Most recently, he was named the 2003 Man of the Year by the Ohio Cancer Research Associates.
Mr. Cox is a frequent speaker for companies, universities, and civic organizations throughout the country and has been the keynote speaker for scores of national and local organizations. Additionally, Mr. Cox and his company take an active role in youth programs in greater Cincinnati. For the last 40 years Cox Financial has been philanthropically involved with the community, including assisting in every phase of downtown development and enhancement of Cincinnati Public Schools.
He has also served on a number of boards in the Cincinnati area, including Duke Energy for 15 years, BDM International, PNC Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, for 11 years where he was Audit Committee Chair, Chairman of the Board for the University of Cincinnati, where in 2009 he was awarded the Doctorate of Letters Degree and Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Cincinnati. Mr. Cox is the former Co-Chairman of the Ohio Business Roundtable, and the former chairman of the Business Alliance for Higher Education and the Economy. Mr. Cox was also Chairman of the prestigious Cincinnati Business Committee (CBC), which is comprised of the twenty-five most influential companies in the Cincinnati area. Mr. Cox is a member of the prestigious Commercial Club and the Management Executive Society.
